USDA Food Pyramid

I’m not sure where to start: Grains are a no-go. The USDA-promoted Food Pyramid has done far more to endanger folks than help them get healthier. The increasing focus on salt intake and saturated fats miss the forest for the trees, giving gut-destroying grains and legumes a 1st place trophy, despite their anti-nutrients and empty calories.
Primal / Paleo Food Pyramid

We’d switch “Meat, fish, fowl, eggs” with “Fruit” any day of the week; leading research is showing how damaging high fructose (the main sugar in fruit) intake can be, putting your liver in a precarious situation, and driving up insulin sensitivity. The rest of the pyramid is sound, though if you’re looking for measured performance, a measured diet is a must – something the “Paleo lifestyle” often lacks.
Zone Food Pyramid

Whether you agree with the blood sugar and insulin balance science promoted by the diet or not, clean eats and measured performance is hard to argue with.
